The Independent Consumer Protection Authority (ICPA) has been designated under Section 5A of the Consumer Fairness and Safety Act 2026 (CFS). The Authority is publishing guidance for consumers and businesses ahead of the Act's commencement on 20 August 2026, when its investigation and enforcement powers under Article 5 come into force.
Businesses are encouraged to review the guidance on this site and prepare their contracts, product safety procedures and complaint-handling ahead of commencement. The Authority will publish further guidance, model notices and compliance assistance in the lead-up to and following commencement, as required by Section 5C.
